A new field, inelastic thermoelectricity, is introduced where the elementary physical pictures and models are illustrated. We show several advantages of inelastic thermoelectricity: the potential for high-performance thermoelectricity and the anomalous transport effects that cannot be realized in elastic transport. Particularly, we focus on several unusual effects: cooling by heating, linear thermal transistor effect, transverse thermoelectricity, and transverse thermal conductance, etc. We further discuss phsyical problems extended from thermoelectric studies: universality of optimal efficiency and power, and efficiency stochastic fluctuations. |
