Abstract

I will review effective field theories (EFT) describing Higgs interactions beyond the Standard Model (SM) when the new particles are much heavier than the weak scale. The most popular framework is the so-called SM EFT where the Standard Model Lagrangian is extended to include gauge invariant dimension-6 operators. Other approaches include the so-called Higgs EFT (HEFT) where the electroweak symmetry is realized in non-linearly, or ad-hoc deformations of the Higgs couplings away from the SM value. I will discuss the validity regime and interpretation of these different approaches. |
