Abstract :
In recent years, we have been using methods and ideas of statistical physics to study models about the origin of life, biological evolution and polymorphism [1-7]. In this talk, I briely review such developments, especially on following topics; 1. exact solution of the Eigen model with general fitness functions and degradation rates [2], 2. quasispecies theory for multiple-peak fitness landscapes [3], 3. diploid biological evolution models with general smooth fitness landscapes and recombination [4], 4. phase diagram for the Eigen quasispecies theory with the truncated fitness landscape [5], 5. Eigen’s paradox about the origin of life [6],
6. replicators in fine-grained environment: adaptation and polymorphism [7].. .
