Abstract :

The Schwarzschild black string solution in 5D is a special
case of a wider class of solutions which are characterized by mass and
tension parameters. This two parameter family of spacetimes have a
translational symmetry along the fifth direction perpendicular to
which they have spherical symmetry on each slice. All solutions
possess curvature singularities which are naked except for the case of
the Schwarzschild black string. Some interesting geometrical
properties and physical implications are also summarized.
On the other hand, I briefly introduce the current status of the
research activities on numerical relativity in Korea.
