Liquid crystalline (LC) elastomers can be obtained from either crosslinking #@LC polymers or normal polymers in an LC solvent. The self organization of #@the liquid crystalline units gives rise to interesting properties such as#@piezoelectricity. We proposed a molecular theory for the process to #@account for a wide range of novel thermal, mechanical, electrical and optical properties.
