Abstract

摘要

I review the puzzling hierarchical structure of particle physics and will motivate the possibility that it arises from strongly coupled dynamics beyond the Standard Model. I discuss the challenge in theoretically controlling strong dynamics, introducing the AdS/CFT duality as a kind of strong coupling expansion which trades aspects of strong coupling for weakly coupled higher-dimensional dynamics. In this way, I show how to construct "warped" higher-dimensional models which provide an attractive, unified and comprehensive framework for understanding particle physics and hierarchies. Finally, I describe how such models are being tested at the CERN Large Hadron Collider as well as lower-energy experiments, and their prospects for discovery at even higher energy colliders in the future.
