Jointed Institute of Theoretical Physics December
Dr. Shi received his Master Degree from China Institute of Atomic Energy in 1995 and Ph.D. in theoretical physics from Institute of Theoretical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ITPCAS) in 1998. After post-doctoral work at the University of Delaware, he became an associate professor at ITPCAS.
His research has spanned many areas:
(1) nuclear many-body problem: He has studied properties of finite nuclei using density dependent relativistic Hartree and Hartree-Fock approach.
(2) Bose-Einstein condensation: He mainly focused on the effects of interactions on the atomic Bose condense. He has studied the stability of Bose condensate with attractive interactions, the dynamic evolution of condensate far away from equilibrium, the effects of traps and interactions, the temperature-dependent low collective excitation modes and multi-component trapped Bose gas system at finite temperature.
(3) quantum liquid droplets: He has studied structures of He3-He4 mixture droplets with and without vortices using a phenomenological density function.
Since arrival at ITPCAS in 2000, his research has been primarily at the interface of physics and life science.
The current research interests include: transport phenomena in biological system, especially molecular motor; biological network; physical problem in gene regulation.
