Associate Professor Tiantian Zhang Won the DCMP Young Scientist Award
During the Association of Asia-Pacific Physical Society Condensed Matter Conference (AC2MP2024) held from December 8th to 11th at the Indian Institute of Technology Patna campus, the winners of the "DCMP Young Scientist Award" were announced. Associate Professor Tiantian Zhang from the Institute of Theoretical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, won the Silver medal of the first "Young Scientist Award" (DCMP YOUNG SCIENTIST AWARD), in recognition of her outstanding contributions as a young talent in condensed matter physics, particularly in the establishment of a catalogue of topological electronic materials and the exploration of topological phonons.
The Division of Condensed Matter Physics (DCMP) is a department of the Association of Asia-Pacific Physical Society (AAPPS) established in 2021. Starting from 2024, DCMP announced the establishment of the DCMP Young Scientist Award to honor young researchers with outstanding research achievements. DCMP encourages all young researchers in the Asia-Pacific region to apply for this award.
Tiantian Zhang, an Associate Professor at the Institute of Theoretical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, mainly focuses on the research of topological band theory and first-principles calculations. She has published more than 20 papers in journals such as Nature, Sci. Adv., and Phys. Rev. Lett. as (co-)first/corresponding author, with a total citation of over 3,500 times. In recent years, she has achieved a series of innovative research achievements in the fields of topological electronic materials, topological phonons and chiral phonons, which have attracted widespread attention from domestic and international peers. Her work on the establishment of a directory of topological electronic materials indicates that about 24% of materials in nature may have topological structures, which was selected as one of the "Top Ten Scientific and Technological Advances in China in 2019" by academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. She also won the "Most Potential Award" of the 2023 Alibaba DAMO Academy Young Fellow Award.
