Postdoctoral Positions Available in 2025
The Institute of Theoretical Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (ITP-CAS) (http://english.itp.cas.cn) is calling for application for a few postdoctoral fellow positions in 2025. Research areas include but not limited to: 1) Theoretical particle physics and nuclear physics, 2) Quantum field theory and superstring theory, 3) Gravitational theory, astrophysics and cosmology, 4) Statistical physics, theoretical biophysics and bioinformatics, 5) Condensed matter theory, 6) Quantum physics, quantum information and interaction between light and matter, 7) Plasma, accelerator physics, kinetic turbulence, 8) New areas of theoretical physics or related interdisciplinary fields. The applicant must have obtained a Ph.D. degree in theoretical physics or other related fields and should be under 35 years old. The deadline is December 31, 2024.
I. QFT and String Theory Group 1 Recruit Information (Mathematics and Physics of Scattering Amplitudes)
Our group invites applications to fill 1-2 postdoctoral positions working on QFT, String Theory, and related topics. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in the area of scattering amplitudes.
The initial appointment for the positions is for two years (starting no later than October 1st, 2025), with the possibility of a third-year extension.
Candidates with a Ph.D. in high energy theory are encouraged to apply by sending CV, publication list, research statement, and at least two letters of recommendation from experts in the field, one of which should be from the applicant's doctoral supervisor.

II. QFT and String Theory Group 2 Recruit Information
Our group invites applications to fill one postdoctoral position working on quantum gravity and black hole physics.
The initial appointment for the positions is for two years (starting no later than October 1st, 2025), with the possibility of a third-year extension.

III. QFT and String Theory Group 3 Recruit Information
Our group invites applications for a (2+1 years) postdoctoral position. Current faculty in the String/QFT group of ITP-CAS includes Song He, Yihong Gao, Wei Li, Jieqiang Wu, Gang Yang, and Ming Yu.

IV. New Physics and Effective field theory Group Recruit Information
Our group invites applications for a (2+1 years) postdoctoral position (starting in the autumn of 2025) in directions of effective field theory, scattering amplitudes, neutrino physics, and related new physics. Candidates with experiences or expertise in effective field theory, scattering amplitudes, neutrino physics, dark matter physics, and particle cosmology are especially encouraged to apply.

V. Hadron Physics Group
The Hadron Physics Group invites applications to fill one postdoctoral position. The successful candidate is expected to work in one of the following fields:
(1) Phenomenology of low-energy strong interactions, including effective field theories, dispersion relations, hadron spectroscopy;
(2) Lattice field theory.
The position is for two years, with a possible extension for a third year, and a potential to be promoted to a 3-year research associate position for outstanding performance.

VII. Biophysics Group Recruit Information
The Biophysics Group invites applications to fill one postdoctoral position working on interdisciplinary research in biophysics, computation, and systems biology. The initial appointment for the positions is for two years with the possibility of a third-year extension.
Our research group focuses on the interdisciplinary direction of biophysics, computational and systems biology, and conducts research.
Qualifications
(1) With a strong interest in interdisciplinary research in biophysics.
(2) Have a professional background in physics or mathematics or interdisciplinary biophysics, and experience in machine learning is preferred.

VIII. Condensed Matter Physics Group Recruitment Information 1
Our group invites applications to fill one postdoctoral position in the area of Condensed Matter Theory. The starting date is negotiable. The appointment is initially for two years with possibility to extend to the third year.
Research fields:
(1) Use density functional theory, many-body perturbation theory, and analytical models to study the novel physical properties of materials, such as new topological states, magnetism, electrical/thermal transport, superconductivity, and corresponding material predictions.
(2) Develop numerical algorithms and computing software, such as electrical/thermal transport-related codes, machine learning, high-throughput computing, etc.
(3) Experience in GPU programming and cooperation with condensed matter experimental groups is preferred.

VIIII. Condensed Matter Physics Group Recruitment Information 2
Our group invites applications to fill one postdoctoral position in the area of Condensed Matter Theory. The initial appointment is for two years and the starting date is January 1st, 2025, or as soon as possible after that.
The research directions include:
(1) Unconventional superconductivity and topological superconductivity;
(2) Novel correlated phases of matter (analytical and numerical study).
Qualifications
(1) Expertise in analytical and numerical methods used in theoretical condensed matter physics.

X. Condensed Matter Physics Group Recruitment Information 3
Our group seeks two postdoctoral researchers to advance the frontiers of quantum many-body physics, unraveling the fundamental theories of correlated many-electron systems and tackling the core physical challenges in superconducting quantum computation.
Research fields:
(1) Develop low-energy effective field theories for correlated electron systems. Through innovative fundamental theories, we aim to advance the next-generation first-principles methods for material electronic structure calculations, and explore the physics of non-Fermi liquids and unconventional superconductivity mechanisms.
(2) Investigate the noise origins and error correction schemes in superconducting qubits. Study the noise mechanisms in superconducting devices such as qubits, develop noise suppression and error correction coding schemes, and explore scalable fault-tolerant quantum computing architectures.
Qualifications
(1) Ph.D. in Physics, Materials Science, or related fields (prospective graduates must obtain their doctoral degree before the start date).
(2) Solid theoretical foundation and research experience in condensed matter physics, quantum many-body physics, or quantum information.
(3) Strong passion for scientific research, excellent English communication and writing skills, and the ability to conduct independent research.
(4) Priority will be given to candidates who have published high-quality papers in prestigious international journals.

XI. Condensed Matter Physics Group Recruitment Information 4
Our group invites applications to fill 1-2 postdoctoral positions working on quantum many-body theory, quantum computing, and related topics. The initial appointment for the positions is for two years, with the possibility of a third-year extension.
The interests of our group span quantum many-body theory, topological quantum field theory, quantum computing, quantum information, and related interdisciplinary fields. Our current focuses are (1) conventional and unconventional topological phases of matter, and (2) quantum error correction codes and other quantum computing related topics.
We invite theorists with backgrounds in condensed matter physics, quantum computing, quantum information, coding theory, or related fields to join us. We encourage theoretical exploration of new research directions and provide opportunities for collaboration with related experimental teams.

XII. Laser Plasma Group Recruitment Information
The Laser Plasma Group invites applications to fill one postdoctoral position in computational study of high-energy-density plasma. The starting date is negotiable. The appointment is initially for two years, with the possibility of being extended to the third year.
The applicant will work on one of the two research fields:
(1) High-energy-density plasmas: plasma instabilities.
(2) Laser-plasma accelerators: particle acceleration, radiation sources.
Qualifications
(1) With a strong interest in the computational study of high-energy-density plasma.
(2) Have published high-level research papers in related professional fields.
(3) Have a good team spirit, good communication, good organizational skills, a spirit of scientific exploration and the ability to conduct scientific research independently.
