Hadronic parity violation in chiral EFT
- Title Hadronic parity violation in chiral EFT
- Speaker Ulf-G. Meißner (Universität Bonn & Forschungszentrum Jülich)
- Date 14:00 Sep. 9, 2024
- Venue 322
Hadronic parity violation (PV) allows for fine tests of the Standard Model. In this talk, I review the efforts to tackle this problem from chiral effective field theories and lattice QCD. A particular focus is set on the weak pion-nucleon coupling constant, which dominates the long- range part of hadronic PV, but is purely known to date. A concise program to tackle hadronic PV using few-nucleon reactions is also laid out.
Biography
Prof. Dr. Ulf-G. Meißner is the chair of the theory group of the Helmholtz Institute for Radiation and Nuclear Physics at Bonn University and the director of the Institute for Advanced Simulation-4 (IAS-4) at the Jülich Research Center. He was the dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Bonn University, from 2008 to 2016. He had made many contributions in theoretical nuclear and hadron physics. Here are a few among the many awards and honors he received: ERC Advanced Grant (2021), CAS President’s Fellowship for Distinguished Scientists (2018, 2024), Lise-Meitner Prize (2016), member of Academia Europaea (2010), Fellow of the American Physical Society (2009). He was also the Spokesperson of the Sino-German Collaborative Research Center CRC110.
