A study of exotic compound nuclear system and subsequent fragment emission using Skyrme Energy Density Formalism

06/25 2023 Seminar
  • Title A study of exotic compound nuclear system and subsequent fragment emission using Skyrme Energy Density Formalism
  • Speaker Shivani Jain (ITP/CAS)
  • Date 2:30pm-4:00pm Jun. 25, 2023
  • Venue Room 322, ITP North Building
  • Abstract
To study the fusion and fission mechanisms of heavy-ion induced reactions, the nucleus-nucleus interaction potential derived using the semiclassical SEDF approach is considered as a tool to estimate the fusion barrier characteristics. In this analysis, the influence of different density approximations and density functions has been studied in detail. Besides, the role of symmetry breaking pear-shapes has been understood in the fusion as well as fission dynamics.

    About the speaker:
Dr. Shivani Jain is the Post-doctoral Fellow of Institute of Theoretical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. She has completed her Ph.D. from School of Physics and Materials Science, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala, Punjab, India. Her research interests include the study of heavy-ion induced reactions at low-energy, fusion and fission nuclear mechanisms, deformation and orientation degree of freedom effects, etc. She has published 6 Scientific papers in high-level international journals. During her Ph.D., she has been awarded with Senior Research Fellowship, sponsored by Council of Scientific & Industrial Research – Human Resource Development Group (CSIR-HRDG), Govt. of India. Later, she has also worked as Guest Faculty in Department of Physics and Astronomical Sciences, Central University of Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir, India. Also, she has reviewed scientific papers of two SCI journals (J Phys. G: Nucl. Part. Phys. and Physica Scripta).
