Quantum Algorithms and Software for the NISQ Era

03/24 2023 Seminar
  • Title Quantum Algorithms and Software for the NISQ Era
  • Speaker Shi-Xin Zhang (Tencent Quantum Lab)
  • Date 10:00 Mar. 24, 2023
  • Venue Room 6620, ITP South Building
  • Abstract
In the noisy intermediate-scale quantum era (NISQ), we are likely to achieve practical quantum advantage using near-term programmable quantum hardware. To further develop the understanding of NISQ, we make progress in designing quantum algorithms and developing the quantum software platform. In this talk, I will discuss how to enhance the expressiveness by quantum-classical hybrid schemes, how to design quantum circuit structure by quantum architecture search, and how to accelerate variational quantum algorithms training by novel optimization strategies. I will also introduce the high-performance quantum software framework for the NISQ era – TensorCircuit, which enables efficient simulation and design of quantum algorithms and pipelines. These works together pave the way to better understanding and investigating the power of NISQ devices.
