Abstract 摘要 |
Recently ensemble averages of field theories attract a lot of attention and become promising candidates of the holographic dual description of classical gravity. The random variables considered in the ensemble averages by now are mostly Gaussian-type continuous variables. However, given the discrete nature of quantum theories, averaging over discrete random variables should have clearer connections to the microscopic origin of gravity. In this talk, I will discuss ensemble averaged theories with discrete random variables. l'll propose suitable procedures to do the ensemble average, and I'll also provide a mathematically rigorous description in terms of Poisson processes. Moreover, I'll demonstrate that averaged theories of this type have an equivalent description of tracing over parts of the microscopic degrees of freedom in a suitable continuous limit of a single microscopic theory. The results from both approaches mirror Liouville gravity, of which I'll try to further address some implications on the ensemble average and the microscopic theory. |
