    Abstract

    摘要

Symmetry enriched topological (SET) phases are long-ranged entangled topological states showing nontrivial symmetry fractionalization. While two-dimensional symmetry-enriched topological phases (SETs) have been intensively studied, much less is known about three-dimensional (3D) SET phases. Using topological BF theory, we studied topological orders enriched by Abelian symmetries in 3D, where the topological orders are described by Abelian gauge theories. We propose an algorithmic approach of imposing global symmetry on gauge theories. The resulting symmetric gauge theories may be served as low-energy effective theories of three-dimensional symmetric topological quantum spin liquids. We propose how to physically diagnose the ground-state properties of SET phases in gedanken experiments of charge-loop braidings (patterns of symmetry fractionalization) and the mixed multiloop braidings among deconfined loop excitations and confined symmetry fluxes.
