First of all, director Yue-Liang Wu expressed his welcome to the delegation, and made a brief introduction into ITP, the new running model of KITPC, its research areas, and development objectives. This event will become the start of KITPC outreach programs.

At the invitation of the delegation, the head of KITPC management office Dr. Ci Zhuang made a brief introduction of CAS, and detailed introduction of the establishment of KITPC, the management mode, the program running procedure and the programs run during 2007 and 2009. Thereafter, the director of nanomechanics laboratory of NTNU Prof. Zhiliang Zhang and one of the student made a detailed introduction into NTNU, especially, the first postgraduate class of nanotechnology established in 2006 in Scandinavia. This class recruits 30 top students every year and the average entrance scores have ranked first throughout the country since 2006. The delegations are from the nanotech postgraduate class, and their research areas are nanomaterials, nanobiology and nanoelectronics.

During the meeting, professor Hai-Jun Zhou delivered a speech named“Biomembranes and Biopoly mers: Elasticity and Phase Transition". Students made a free discussion, and vice director Xiao-Song Chen presided over the meeting and discussion.

After the welcome meeting, the delegation visited National Lab for Superconductivity and nano physics and devices laboratory in Institute of Physics. At noon, students had lunch together at 3rd floor of KITPC, and made a happy and free communication.

Note: According the tradition of NTNY, the university arranges every year for the junior students a Spring Visit to the top institutes and universities around the world. Last year, students of Nanotech class of 2006 session visited Japan, and this year, the 2007 session students will also visit Tsinghua University, National Centre for Nanoscience and Technology, Shanghaijiaotong Univeristy, and Fudan Univeristy.
